Shane Smeltz's name was rising up again after his only goal which has brought Borneo FC Samarinda to win the match against Persiba Balikpapan on last Monday (9/25).

The goal has added into the Smeltz's goal record to become 5 goals with Pesut Etam.

He did not score a goal for quite a long time for Borneo FC. Almost three months after the match against Madura United, Shane Smeltz did not score a goal during that time. With his status as the national player's of New Zealand and had played in the 2010 world cup.

Injury was the influencing factor of his absent where he could not find his best performance. Up until now, Shane Smeltz has played 15 matches from the total 24 matches of Borneo FC. As known before, Shane Smeltz was sidelined due to injury. The condition made him absent from Pesut Etam for awhile. Besides, he also often get called by his country, New Zealand, for international matches.

However, in Iwan Setiawan's hands, Shane Smeltz gained the coach's trust to play since the beginning. He did not waste the chance given to him this time. It's proven that in the last two matches, Shane Smeltz always score a goal for Borneo FC. The goals were scored in the match against Bhayangkara FC and also the victory goal in the match against Persiba Balikpapan. "I am very happy to comeback," said Smeltz after the match against Persiba.

Coach Iwan Setiawan explained how he raised smeltz' spirits.According to Iwan, he always using a face-to-face approach to his players to build their confidence.

"I do the face to face approach to every player. I said to Smeltz that he is a good player and he is a world class players. The team needs you. You have to do more for this team. That's what I said to him to motivate him," said Iwan.

Next, the contribution of Shane Smeltz in Borneo FC's important matches will keep going. Because Pesut Etam still have to fight against some big clubs, such as PSM Makassar, Madura United, and Persib Bandung. (DMZ/KOK)
