Two players of Borneo FC Samarinda were called to join the national team respectively. Lerby Eliandry was called by Luis Milla to defend Indonesia against Cambodia, as well as Shane Smeltz who will strengthen New Zealand in their match against Japan.

But if Lerby Eliandri start on Friday (10/6) will rejoin the team, but for Shane Smeltz will be difficult to come to defend Pesut Etam against PSM Makassar on Sunday (10/8) at Segiri Stadium, Samarinda.

Borneo FC manager, Farid Abubakar said Smeltz was called to defend New Zealand against the Japanese hosts in Nagoya on October 6th. While Lerby who successfully contributed the opening goal of Indonesia's national team 3-1 victory against Cambodia, October 4 yesterday, certainly have joined the team, on Friday (10/6) afternoon.

Farid said Shane Smeltz had a hard time coming back from defending his country because of the New Zealand national team schedule he received, Smeltz will just arrived in Jakarta on October 8th "Not to mention two hours flew to Balikpapan and headed for Samarinda. It would seem difficult for him to play. If he arrived in Samarinda before the fight, the conditions would not allow," he explained.

Shane Smeltz has so far collected five goals with Borneo FC. The minimal numbers of goal is reasonable, because he only played 15 games, the rest of the 36-year-old player was absent due to injury and smashed when the national team defender New Zealand. "But slowly, Shane Smeltz began to show his sharpness, we hope after the national team, he can be more productive again in terms of creating goals," said Farid. (HFZ/KOK)
