Borneo FC's foreign striker from New Zealand, Shane Smeltz admits the kinship in Borneo FC has impressed him.

Borneo FC Samarinda's striker, Shane Smeltz must leave early ahead of the end of the competition. This New Zealand's player got called to join his country's national team to play against Peru in the play-off of 2018 World Cup.


Smeltz is the only marquee player in 2017 Go-Jek Traveloka Liga 1 who still actively play for the national team. Must to play the play-off match against Peru, he has to end his dream to end this season fully with the squad.


The training session at Segiri Stadium yesterday became the last training for Smeltz with Borneo FC in this season. The 36-year-old is scheduled to leave for New Zealand, today (11/1). "Thanks to Borneo FC, the team that is always in my heart," Smeltz said after training yesterday.


The length of preparation that need to be done by Smeltz make he must be absent in the last three matches of Pesut Etam. Challenging Perseru Serui (11/4), Persib Bandung (11/8), and the last match against Arema FC (11/11). "Thank you very much for the boss, Nabil Husein (President of Borneo FC) I'm happy and proud to play for you and this club, I hope you all will be more succeed in the future," explained Shane Smeltz who scored goal into Italian's goal in the 2010 World Cup.


Shane Smeltz admitted that he is happy to have a career in his age with Borneo FC. He claims to love the team as a whole from management, team mates, coach officials, and loyal supporters, Pusamania. "I hope we can keep do the communication, we are like family in Samarinda, I hope everyone would pray for New Zealand to pass the World Cup," Smeltz hoped.


Smeltz's contract with Borneo FC itself only lasted for one season. The chance to play again in Liga Indonesia itself can not be ascertained, because there is no clarity related to regulation. Shane Smeltz is currently declaring his focus with New Zealand in the play-offs against Peru.


Therefore, there are two matches to be played. "I started training with the team until after the season ended, I also want to gather with my family," Smeltz said.


Meanwhile, the President of Borneo FC, Nabil Husein Said Amin hopes Shane Smeltz can be successful in his career with the national team of New Zealand. He explains Shane Smeltz is a player that bring many benefits to his team. (RIB/KOK)
