Targeting to pick points, Borneo FC Manager, Farid Abubakar explained that his team only brought 13 players because they only have a realistic target in Serui. "We will play to the maximum and want to pick points," said Farid.
The decision to play a minimalist squad to Serui is Borneo FC's strategy to face the tight schedule. After the match against Perseru, the team directly come back to Samarinda to prepare for the match against Persib Bandung (11/8) at Mulawarman Stadium, Bontang. "The main focus is that we win the match against Persib. Not lose points," said Farid.
The squad who depart to Serui without eleven of the main players who play against Persija Jakarta in the week 32. Most of the players are them who has the lack of opportunity to perform. "Actually in Borneo FC all players are equal, the quality is balanced because they play in the professional league, we hope to show the best performance," Farid explained.
The eleven of the first team players who are not brought to Serui stay in Samarinda and practice regularly. There are three coaches that are scheduled to accompany the team namely Vladimir Krunic, Luizinho Passos, and Ponaryo Astaman who has just completed the A AFC coaching course.
Separately, Borneo FC's assistant coach, Ahmad Amiruddin did not complain about the squad sent to Serui. According to him, the whole squad will perform eagerly to play to the maximum. "Perhaps the final result is not to be cared for, but most importantly match against Perseru Serui are an important moment for players who rarely appear to bring out their best performance," he concluded.
